London & Essex · UK-Wide Weddings & Events
Open-format DJ for weddings, private celebrations and corporate events across London and Essex.
Expertly reading the room and keeping every generation on the dance floor.
About DJ Wrexx
I'm DJ Wrexx — based in London and Essex, performing at weddings and celebrations across the UK.
With more than a decade behind the decks and over 200 events delivered, I've built a reputation as the DJ who understands how a great wedding reception really works. The shift in energy between moments. The traditions that matter. The point in the night when conversation fades and the dance floor suddenly fills.
My approach is simple: no rigid playlists and no boxed-in genres. Every celebration is different, and the music should reflect the people in the room.
From modern global sounds and urban party favourites to timeless classics that bring every generation together, I build the night naturally — reading the room and keeping the energy exactly where it needs to be.
Whether it's a culturally rich celebration, a mixed-heritage wedding, or a modern UK reception with an urban edge, the goal is always the same: a full dance floor and a celebration your guests won't forget.
Celebrations & Communities I Work With
Weddings often blend cultures, traditions and music styles. I'm experienced in celebrations where heritage, family moments and a packed dance floor all matter equally — and that experience makes every event better, regardless of background.
What I Cover
From intimate African Traditional ceremonies to grand Caribbean receptions, milestone birthdays to corporate galas — I bring the same depth, preparation and energy to every event.

I don't play to a genre — I play to the room. Every track is a decision, not a shuffle.
Afro-Caribbean DNA
Cross-Genre Versatility
Every event begins with a conversation. We'll talk through your must-plays, your cultural touchstones, the moments you want to create — first dance, cake-cutting, that one song your parents love. I prepare meticulously, then read the room on the night to make sure the energy never drops.

On The Night
Forget equipment lists. Here's what actually happens when the music starts.
From the moment guests arrive, the atmosphere is intentional. Energy builds gradually — never rushing, never lagging. I watch the room constantly: who's at the bar, who's lingering at the edge of the floor, which tracks pull people in. I've worked with mixed-culture crowds and varied music tastes for over a decade, and the result is always the same — a packed dance floor, every generation dancing, and a natural energy that carries the night from welcome drinks to last song.
Every crowd is different. I watch, adjust, and make real-time decisions — so the music always feels right for the moment, not just the playlist.
From grandparents who need their era to the younger generation wanting the latest drops — everyone gets their moment. No generation is an afterthought.
The transition that empties the tables and pulls everyone in. I live for those moments — and I know how to create them, reliably, at every event.
What People Say
DJ Wrexx understood our vision from the very first call. We had family flying in from across Africa and cousins based in London who'd never been to an African wedding before — he brought every single one of them to the dance floor. The transition from Afrobeats into the slow jams at the end had people literally crying. Absolute professional, flawless night.
Man knows his music, full stop. My family are Caribbean through and through and they are hard to please — my aunties were dancing from the second set and didn't stop. He mixed Dancehall into Soca into old school lovers rock without missing a beat. I've been to hundreds of Caribbean weddings. This was the best DJ I've ever seen work a room. Book him early — he will be gone.
My mother's 50th was everything. DJ Wrexx spent time with us beforehand understanding who would be in the room — African family on one side, British friends on the other, kids running around and grandparents who needed their era represented. He nailed every single request and kept the energy going for five hours straight. Couldn't recommend him more highly.

FAQ
Absolutely — this is the heart of what I do. I've DJed at African Traditional ceremonies, Caribbean celebrations, and events spanning many different cultural backgrounds across the continent and the islands. I understand the cultural flow of these events — when to build, when to hold back, and how to keep everyone from the village elders to the uni crew equally engaged.
This is exactly what open format means. Multi-generational rooms are my speciality — I build sets that take the night on a journey, giving every age group their moment. The 70-year-old aunties get their highlife and old school R&B, the 30-somethings get Afrobeats and Amapiano, and the young ones get their Soca and Bashment. Nobody sits down for long.
For weddings, I'd strongly recommend booking 12–18 months in advance if your date falls between May and October — that's peak African and Caribbean wedding season in the UK and my calendar fills up fast. Milestone events and corporate gigs can often be arranged with less notice, but earlier is always better. Drop me a WhatsApp or fill in the form and I'll confirm my availability straight away.
Yes — I arrive fully self-sufficient with professional DJ equipment. I'm also happy to work in venues that have their own in-house AV systems and liaise directly with their technical team to ensure everything runs smoothly. If you have a specific equipment requirement or a particularly large venue, just let me know and we can discuss what's needed.
I'm always open to requests — but I make them work within the flow of the room. We'll go through your must-plays and do-not-plays well before the event. On the night, I read the energy first and weave requests in where they'll land best. That's the difference between a DJ who just takes requests and one who curates an experience.
Yes — I carry full Public Liability Insurance, which is required by most UK venues. In the extremely unlikely event that I am genuinely unable to attend due to an emergency, I maintain a trusted network of professional DJs who understand the cultural context of my events and could step in. Your day will not be left without music — that's a commitment I take seriously.
